I’m having a nightmare finding a set of meds that sucessfully treat my bipolar disorder, does anyone have any experience/advice on this? I suffer predominately with depression and rapid cycling.

depicote its a mood stablizer and after about four weeks of using it you will notice that things arent just so dramatic as they once seemed and things will be down played.you will not feel so emotional and will now be nearly as stressed out I promise

i don’t suffer from it….i live with it and deal with it without meds.

i take walks in the sunshine and embrace my life.
i don’t allow some medical issue to control me…I will control my mind and my moods.
    i made a choice.
    i meditate and practice yoga.
i take deep breaths and enjoy life.

these things aren’t easy and are not a quick fix. i have been working at this for most of my life…..basicaly, once i realized that my moods were wild and i stepped away from myself to see when i got manic and when i was depressed, then i snapped myself out of it and practiced natural ways to combat the emotions.

i even stayed calm throughout my pregnancy!!!

it’s hard, but you can do it.
    just make a choice.

What I would suggest to you — is seek some professional psychiatric help. What I mean is this. Lithium usually treats a balance of the disorder that is affected both highs and lows. In other words just as much “mania” as there is “depression.” However, Depakote treats more of the “mania” part of this disorder. I would ask a professionals help to determine where exactly you are on the spectrum and then he/she can determine what might chemically work best for your body. Doesn’t seem as though either of these would work effectively, but I would suggest maybe a Prozac dose that might work. Also you want to get the dosage right. While some people need three pills a day, a smaller woman would not need so much. YOU can be your best advocate here. Write down the times you feel more depressed. The dates it occurs. How severe the mood swings are. Your weight. Your concerns about your every day tasks. Then go see a specialist. They can help you.

    None.
Buddhism has been the most effective form of “treatment” I’ve found in a decade of living with it.
Accepting that the cycling will happen is not the same as being controlled by it.
There are more choices than drugs.
